OTTAWA, August 1, 2006 —Six RCMP foals now have names, thanks to the creativity of five young Canadians and one American. The foals were named during the annual RCMP Name the Foal contest, which was launched this spring. The contest asks young people from Canada and around the world to find original names for six of the foals born each year at the RCMP breeding farm in Pakenham, Ont. These foals may one day be part of the world-famous RCMP Musical Ride. This year, names had to start with the letter “D”. Over 9,000 entries were received during the two months the contest ran. The following winners were selected: Depot – Patrick Weir, Yellowknife, NT For media enquiries, please contact the RCMP’s Public Affairs and Communication Services Directorate: |
