Further Arrest in Terrorism-related Investigation

Toronto, Ontario, August 3, 2006 —Toronto’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the seventeen persons charged with terrorism-related offences on June 2, 2006.

Charged is Ibrahim Alkhalel Mohammed Aboud, age 19, of Falconer Drive, Mississauga, Ontario. Mr. Aboud is charged under Section 83.01 of the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled for his first appearance at the Brampton Courthouse on August 4, 2006.

This case is currently before the courts and the subject of a publication ban. As such no further information can or will be released.

The RCMP is pleased with the success of this on-going investigation which was made possible through the cooperation of all partners. At all times during the investigation the safety of the public was of utmost importance.
