RCMP in "K" Division (Alberta) provide assistance in the search for Emrah Bulatci

Edmonton, Alberta - October 10, 2007 —RCMP investigators have located and seized the vehicle believed to be connected to the suspect wanted in connection with the death of Cst. Worden of Hay River RCMP.

On Monday, October 8, 2007, police located and seized a grey Ford Expedition at a residence on Alpine Blvd., in St. Albert, Alberta. Members of the RCMP Emergency Response Team conducted a searched at the residence and did not locate Emrah Bulatci. An adult female was taken into custody at the time of the search, but was released with no charges.

RCMP Emergency Response personnel also conducted a search in High Level, Alberta early Tuesday morning October 9, 2007, as a result of a tip. The search took place without incident, no arrests were made in connection with the homicide investigation. The suspect was not located.

During the evening of Tuesday, October 9, 2007, a number or Edmonton locations were the subject of police activities as a result of tips from the public concerning Bulatci. At this point in time he remains at large and the subject of a Canada Wide Warrant.

Investigators believe Emrah Bulatci is currently within the province of Alberta and continue to actively respond to tips from the public and to pursue all avenues of the investigational process. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact their nearest RCMP Detachment, local police service or provincial Crime stoppers at 1 - 800 - 222 - 8477 (TIPS). Investigators very much appreciate the volume and nature of information that is being passed along.

- Approximately 5 feet tall (152 cm)
- medium - stocky build
- Blue eyes
- Medium complexion
- Slight facial scarring
- Hair is described as short and dark

The RCMP continues to address Emrah Bulatci as being armed and dangerous. Under no circumstances should anyone attempt to make contact with Bulatci. A measured approach by trained law enforcement personnel is required. Should anyone have information as to his whereabouts or see Emrah Bulatci please call 911 where applicable or the nearest RCMP Detachment, local police service or provincial Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) to pass along the details.

The investigation into the death of constable Christopher Worden will continue on a number of fronts. This will include the continuation of the criminal investigation. A thorough internal review by the RCMP will review all factors including the nature of the call, initial response, back-up, etc. In situations of this nature Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) are also mandated to conduct an investigation.

The release of information into the public domain is often viewed as being extremely slow. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is limited by law with respect to the information we can legally release to the public. Privacy legislation restricts the release of personal information under the control of institutions such as the RCMP. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police must ensure an accused's right to a fair trial, as guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, is not violated by releasing details of an investigation while proceedings are before the courts.
