Declaration: Towards the recognition of a universal right to data protection and privacy
The 27th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners, held in Montreux from 14-16 September 2005 at the invitation of the Swiss Federal Data Protection Commissioner, adopted a final declaration aimed at strengthening the universal nature of data protection principles. The Conference also adopted two resolutions, one on the use of biometric data in passports, ID cards and travel documents, and the other on the use of personal data for political communication.
