Ground breaking conference

The first annual conference on Integrated Human Resources and Business Planning and Accountability was held on February 16th & 17th, at the Ottawa Congress Centre in Ottawa.

Over 500 PS managers, HR professionals and corporate planners representing small, medium and large federal organizations across Canada participated in broad-based discussions on major trends and transformations occurring in the Public Service impacting on the integration of HR and business planning.

Sixteen workshops (offered separately in each official language) and two plenary sessions covering horizontal government priorities such as employment equity and cross-cutting initiatives like ongoing expenditure reviews, internal service modernization and integration of services to Canadians were presented by many of the persons leading these initiatives.

The two keynote presentations by Monica Belcourt, Professor at York University and Marta Brito Perez, Associate Director, Human Capital Leadership and Merit System Accountability,  Office of Personnel Management, US government – addressing respectively strategic HR Planning and the American experience with human capital management, were very well received.

The Portfolio Management Directorate has created this Web site as a repository of the presentations and other conference materials to make this wealth of important information accessible to public servants.

Please note that only the materials for which we have received the author's consent to share the information are available. Also, the documents provided are those provided to us by Presenters as final; however, they may not match exactly the actual presentation made at the Conference.
