Guide
You must have a licensed guide if fishing any species on Atlantic Salmon Waters in salmon season.
You can fish salmon waters without a guide on Fish New Brunswick Days in early June. (You must have an appropriate licence if you want to keep your salmon catch.)
You do not need a guide if fishing other species in other waters.
Resident or non-resident
A resident is one of the following:
A person who has resided in New Brunswick for six months immediately before applying for a licence.
A person who has resided in New Brunswick for two weeks immediately before applying for a licence, if he or she has been transferred to the province by his/her employer.
A person who is taking educational training (three-month minimum) in New Brunswick and has been residing in the province for two weeks immediately before applying for a licence.
A person who resided in New Brunswick for six months immediately before taking educational training outside the province and who is continuing that education.
A person who has resided in New Brunswick for the purpose of employment for a total of six months in the12 months immediately before making an application.
A person who was born in the province and who owns real property here.
If you are not one of these people ... you are a non-resident.
