Permanent fund to memorialize Constable Doug Scott Jr.

RCMP Constable Doug Scott Jr., who was killed tragically in the line of duty on Monday, will be forever remembered in the Brockville area. Friends of the Scott family have made donations to the Brockville Community Foundation to establish a permanently endowed fund.

“I remember Doug’s smile and excitement about being able to pursue his passion in law enforcement.  I will always treasure those memories. This Fund is one way, we as a community and nation can remember this young man.” said Timothy Ross, a Board Member with the Foundation. “We grieve with the family and although this will not lessen the sting of this tragedy and heart break, it will give us an opportunity in a small way to show our condolences and respect to a young man who laid down his life in the line of duty.”

All donations will be held in a permanent fund, a fund that will yield money each year that will be contributed to local causes that are important to the Scott family. Foundation Executive Director Andy Mills says, “The exact details are still being worked out, but there is thought of creating a bursary in Constable Scott’s name.”

Mills says that donors can go to their website, www.bcfdn.ca, and donate on-line using their credit card, or they can mail cheques to
