Conference Report: Networks of Ideas: Navigating and Organizing Issues Online
May 1, 2006 - On September 13, 2005, the Centre of Expertise hosted the conference
"Noise Vs. News: Issue and Stakeholder Management in the Blogosphere and Beyond." This conference
explored a new communication environment created by the blogosphere, provided an overview of techniques
to harness the new information, and outlined the new skills needed in issue management. It also
examined the issue framing process and reviewed some basic information management processes
of the Web to ensure that specific information makes its way to relevant stakeholders.

Workbooks are similar to surveys. They are particularly useful when dealing with strategic directions
or value-based decisions, where a common knowledge base must first be established among the respondents.
Workbooks may invite users to suggest solutions to a set of problems or challenges and can also be a tool
to educate the public.
