Expert Advisory Committee on Dietary Reference Intakes

This Committee is no longer active

Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) are nutrient values that guide decision-making on nutrition policies and programs. DRIs are based on the latest science about human nutrition needs for healthy individuals.

In September 2002 Health Canada appointed 11 people to an Expert Advisory Committee on Dietary Reference Intakes with the mandate to provide advice on how best to apply the DRI values to promote the nutritional health of Canadians.  The committee worked for four years and provided advice on a variety of topics relating to dietary guidance.  Members were appointed based on their individual expertise, and did not represent their organizations directly.
