Electronic Shipping Tools

What is it?

Electronic Shipping Tools (EST) is a free, fast and flexible way to prepare your Statements of Mailing (SOM) and your Manifests (when required). For your convenience, two user platforms have been developed: the On-line and the Desktop versions.

Electronic Shipping Tools (EST) is an application designed to eliminate the need for manual paperwork, save valuable time for customers who are using our shipping and/or our mailing services. We invite customers to browse through this site to see how this application can make it easier for you to do business.

Electronic Shipping Tools (EST) is also designed to support and manage all of your shipments/mailings in a fast, simple and accurate way.

Who is it for?

Canada Post created the Electronic Shipping Tools (EST) with you, the commercial customers, keeping in mind whether you operate a large or a small business that ships parcels and/or processes mailings.

How to obtain it
Before you begin, please ensure that you have the following information available:
  • Your Canada Post customer number, your contract number (if applicable). If you do not have these numbers, or if you don't remember them, simply call our Business Sales Centre: 1-800-260-7678. If you are a new customer, you'll be asked to fill out a credit application.

  • You must register and obtain your user ID and password before accessing the application by completing the User ID and Password Request Form. A Sign-on requirement will validate the information against the Canada Post database. Once the information is validated, you can use either version of the Electronic Shipping Tools.

To use the Online version or to connect with the Desktop version, you will need access to an Internet Service Provider and a browser. The Electronic Shipping Tools (EST) supports Firefox version 1.5, the Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 5.5 or greater, and the Netscape Navigator, version 4.7 or greater (128-bit encryption recommended).

The On-line version uses Adobe Reader to display and print the SOM preview, the final Statement of Mailing (SOM), the Shipping Labels and the Customs Document. Reader version 4.0 or greater is recommended to perform these functions. If you do not currently have Adobe Reader installed, you may download a free copy by clicking here:
