Intellectual property (IP) rights can be sold, licensed, used as collateral for debt finance, and can also provide an additional or alternative basis for seeking equity funds. More and more IP rights are not only viewed as a valuable legal asset but also as an important to leverage financing. It's fair to say that it is only recently that the great potential value of IP as collateral has been appreciated and considered by more lenders.
