The National Gallery of Canada announces the recipient of the 2007-08 Research Fellowship
Ottawa - 8 August 2007 - The National Gallery of Canada (NGC) is pleased to announce that the NGC’s Research Fellowship in Canadian Art for the 2007-08 academic year, representing a maximum value of $30,000, has been awarded to Anne-Marie Ninacs, of Montreal. The National Gallery's Research Fellowship Program encourages and supports advanced research, with particular emphasis on the investigation and use of the Gallery's collections.

Ms Ninacs has Masters degrees in Art Studies and in Museology from the University of Montreal. A curator of modern art at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, she also has extensive experience as a curator, researcher and writer, and has held positions in various museums in Quebec and Ontario. During her residency at the National Gallery of Canada, she will analyze the relationship between creativity and spirituality in the works, writings and theories of David Brown Milne.

‘’The NGC’s Research Fellowship is aligned with the museum’s mission to broaden Canadians’ knowledge about art. Ms Ninacs’ research will help to cast new light on Canadian artist David Brown Milne – a contemporary of the Group of Seven who majestically depicted Canadian landscapes in his artworks,“ said Pierre Théberge, Director of the National Gallery of Canada.
