Canadians honoured for excellence in standardization Print

OTTAWA – With the announcement of its 2006 Award recipients, the Standards Council of Canada today acknowledged the very best of Canada’s National Standards System.

“These awards pay tribute to those who have devoted their time and expertise to the advancement of standardization,” noted Peter Clark, Executive Director. “In the 36 years since the creation of the Standards Council, Canada has come to play a leading role in this field. This is due in large part to the dedication and commitment of our committee members and the organizations that support them. This year’s recipients exemplify the leadership and dedication that has led to our prominence on the world stage and the SCC is proud to honour them.”

2006 Standards Council of Canada Award Recipients:

• Jean P. Carrière Award: Dr. Byron Jordan
• Roy. A. Phillips Award: Mr. A.J. Flood
• Corporate Commitment Award: Medical Devices Bureau Health Canada
• SCC Leadership Award: Mr. John Hopkinson
• SCC Award of Excellence: Ms. Jeanne Bank
• SCC Distinguished Service Award: Mr. David Zimmerman
• McMahon Dedicated Service Award: Mrs. Roz Waddell
• SCC Special Achievement Award: ISO/IEC/JTC 1/SC 7 Software and system engineering

The 2006 recipients will be honoured at a ceremony to be held on the evening of Wednesday, September 13, 2006 in Ottawa, Ontario.
