The Standards Council of Canada offers a series of introductory training workshops to help committee members adapt to the ever-changing and challenging environment of their standards-related work.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE  & REGISTRATION

Workshop Fees

Members: No charge for members of Council, Council Advisory Committees, Canadian Advisory Committees, Canadian Sub-committees, Joint Technical Committees on Information Technology, or members of task, or working groups.

Non-members: Full day $395; Half day $249

Group Rates:  Vary depending on size and frequency.

Registration information for workshops

Hours: Full day workshops - 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Half-day workshops - 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Dress: Dress as you wish. If a suit is your style, that is fine. If you would rather wear jeans and a sweatshirt, that is fine too.

We recommend bringing a sweater or jacket since heating/air conditioning is sometimes unpredictable in meeting rooms.

Expect the workshop to be participatory. There are many group and individual exercises, case studies and samples to critique. Because you will be with people from other organizations, there will be an opportunity to learn from each other as well as from the workshop leader. We will change groups occasionally so you meet and work with many people. We invite questions, comments and even rebuttal at any time you wish (and only if you wish). We will not throw questions at you or put you on the spot.

Workshop participants will receive:

  • Course manual containing charts and information for future reference
  • Optional one-to-one discussion with the instructor at the start, and end of the workshop
  • Certificate of Attendance

Cancellation policy

Individuals needing to cancel their registration should contact the Standards Council of Canada (members@scc.ca) no later than 48 hours prior to the start of the workshop.  Since many workshops have waiting lists, adequate notice of cancellation is required to allow SCC to provide others with the opportunity to benefit from training.

Workshops are subject to cancellation by the Standards Council should attendance be less than the required minimums stated in each course description.
