Secrets of Animation

September 26 2007 to December 31 2008

The NFB Mediatheque is pleased to offer this hands-on 3D animation workshop. From script to storyboard, students will create a short animated film using the same tools as professional animators. After building their own plasticine characters, children animate their stories frame by frame with the help of NFB workshop facilitators. Students are encouraged to create gender balanced, non-violent, multicultural projects in keeping with the NFB mandate. The workshop concludes with a big-screen projection of the students' animated work. This workshop is complemented with screenings of NFB animated movies in our cinema and on our state-of-the-art personal viewing stations. Target subject areas:

Workshop duration: 2 hours
Materials fee: $5/student. Educators, guardians and chaperones are admitted free of charge
Capacity: 30 students
Grade level/age: Kindergarten-Grade 8 (ages 3-13)
*Educators: Bring a VHS tape and bring your group's video back to school with you! One tape per group please.
Participate in both the Magic of Animation and Secrets of Animation workshops for only $9 per student!
