My Brand New Life

September 26 2007 to December 31 2008

Take your best shot! Get behind the scenes training in documentary production from the pros at the National Film Board of Canada Mediatheque!

Students start the day by screening an episode of the new NFB La Fete* co-production My Brand New Life, and then participate in video production workshops where they learn the basics of video camera operation, sound recording, and documentary filmmaking. Working in production teams, children learn how to conduct interviews, film scenes in cinema verité style and make sound recordings. At the end of the session students will have created a video documenting their workshop experience, and will screen their work on the big screen in the NFB Cinema.

The My Brand New Life series opens a child's eyes to someone else's world in the best way possible - by experiencing it! Children participating in the workshop are inspired to think with an open mind and challenge social stereotypes.
