Critical infrastructure protection

Critical infrastructure consists of physical and information technology facilities, networks, services and assets that are critical to the well-being, operations and continuity of our country. At PS, we fund research and work with private sector partners to protect national critical infrastructure.

About critical infrastructure
Our national critical infrastructure is made up of ten sectors including energy, transportation and health care.
Joint Infrastructure Interdependencies Research Program
In partnership with the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), this program funds cross-disciplinary research on infrastructure interdependencies for a term of up to three years.
National Critical Infrastructure Assurance Program
To help prevent interruptions of essential services like water and utilities, PS is developing a national framework with critical infrastructure owners and operators.
Situational awareness
Information about potential threats to Canada's critical infrastructure as well as in-depth analysis of past incidents.
