eRecruiting

photo of person viewing CF Recruiting Group Web site homepage on a laptop computerAttracting, selecting, and enrolling top-notch people for the CF constitute a major human resource and technological challenge. With the support of the National Defence On-Line Program, the CF recruiting process is moving toward an end-to-end eRecruiting solution.

Assistant Deputy Minister (Human Resources – Military) (ADM(HR-Mil)), CF Recruiting Group (CFRG), and Director Human Resources Information Management (DHRIM) have formed a partnership to develop an online application form accessible on the CF Recruiting Web site (developed and maintained by CFRG Multimedia Services) at www.recruiting.forces.gc.ca.

“The level of inter/intra departmental support of the project has been tremendously encouraging,” says Lieutenant-Commander Dave King, CFRG Military eRecruiting Project Rep. “Based on the significant progress made over the past six months, implementation of the online application service is anticipated during the summer of 2005.”

eRecruiting will:

  • promote the CF as a 21st-century employer through a continuously updated, highly informative, interactive state-of-the-art Web experience;
  • raise awareness of the diversity and range of military occupations;
  • assist career choice through an interactive questionnaire;
  • offer applicants an alternative to the traditional application at a recruiting centre;
  • reach out to Canadians residing far from recruiting centres;
  • pre-screen applicants to make sure that all basic requirements are met;
  • auto-populate PeopleSoft’s CF Recruiting Information Management System (CFRIMS) following submission of the application data [uses Secure Channel (ePass) technology to protect personal information];
  • improve information exchange through online tracking of application status;
  • streamline data collection;
  • standardize the recruiting message, and;
  • improve overall data quality and process efficiency.

“eRecruiting will provide greater access to Canadians interested in a career in the Canadian Forces,” says Vice-Admiral Greg Jarvis, Assistant Deputy Minister (Human Resources – Military) (ADM(HR-Mil)). “It’s a wonderful example of the use of emerging technology in the search for good people.”

Other eSolutions

CF Recruiting Group Multimedia Services has developed other resources driven by the common database for easy updating, and which assist in streamlining the recruiting process.

The Recruiter’s Toolbox is a laptop-based Internet-updated mobile resource providing CF Recruiters with valuable real-time counseling information to assist prospective applicants in making informed decisions.

The Virtual Guide Kiosk is a hi-tech interactive multimedia product creating a self-serve experience whereby prospects can view information on all aspects of CF employment, and fill in and print the CF Application Form. This resource is accessible in CF Recruiting Centre (CFRC) computer lobbies and the Recruiter’s Toolbox.

Prospective applicants fill in an eProspect Survey that collects advertising and Prospect Survey results on a centralized, secure server for easy processing. This resource is accessible through CFRC kiosks, and will soon become part of the eRecruiting component of the Web site.

The Electronic CF Aptitude Test offers standardized delivery and error-free recording of CFAT results.
