Accountability and Transparency

Public Works and Government Services Canada continuously strives to be transparent and accountable in how it does business. Here you will find links to detailed departmental information on our operations, including Sponsorship, Proactive Disclosure, Advertising, Transparent Contracting and our Internal Audit and Review activities.

Our goals are to continue to improve how we manage and to operate with integrity.

Accountability

On April 11, 2006, the government introduced the Federal Accountability Act and its associated Action Plan in the House of Commons. This omnibus legislation is helping to strengthen accountability, and increase transparency and oversight in government operations. It was granted Royal Assent on December 12, 2006.

PWGSC is playing a special role in the implementation of the Act and the Action Plan in the areas of procurement, advertising and public opinion research.

PWGSC Federal Accountability Act Initiatives

The Management Accountability Framework (MAF) is a tool developed by Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) to provide federal departments and agencies with guidance in order to attain a high level of management performance. PWGSC conducted a MAF self-assessment, available here.
