Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister and for Status of Women

Sylvie Boucher

Beauport–Limoilou (Québec)

Sylvie Boucher was first elected to the House of Commons in 2006. Appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister in February 2006, she was assigned additional responsibilities for La Francophonie and Official Languages in April 2006. Ms. Boucher was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Status of Women in October 2007.

Since being elected, Ms. Boucher has served on a number of House of Committees, including the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Official Languages and the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage.

Ms. Boucher began her career in the private sector, where she specialized in marketing and sales. Following her move to politics, she undertook various roles in the Quebec National Assembly, including serving on the staff of the Quebec Minister of Tourism.

Ms. Boucher has studied widely – in fields as diverse as gerontology, literature, office systems and information technology. The mother of two teenage daughters, Ms. Boucher is an active member of a number of community groups.
