The Minister of Canadian Heritage and Status of Women Canada announced that the Government of Canada will be providing additional $5 million to the Women's Program effective April 1st 2007.

The new resources will bring the annual grants and contributions budget of the Program to $15.3 million, the highest budget in the history of Status of Women Canada. As of April 2007, the Women's Program will also have two components: the Women's Community Fund to support projects at a local, regional and national level and the Women's Partnership Fund for collaborative projects that receive funding from other departments or agencies, different levels of government and non-governmental organizations.

Information about funding requirements and application processes will be posted on the SWC website in May. In the coming weeks, information on calls for proposals concerning the Community Fund will also be issued on the SWC website, along with more detailed information on how to apply to the new Partnership Fund.
