Victim Statement

The Victim Statement program enables victims of crime to present a brief live or recorded statement at an offender’s parole hearing to help National Parole Board members evaluate the risks that the offender poses to the victims and the community.

Application Information

  • Victims wishing to present a live or recorded statement at a parole hearing must apply in writing to the parole office serving the institution where the hearing will be held, or to the nearest office.

Dates and Deadlines

  • Once the application has been approved, victims must submit a copy of their statement in writing at least 30 days before the hearing in order to meet the 15-day legal requirement to share the information with the offender.
