Correctional Service of Canada

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC ) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the court. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

CSC also ensures that victims have an effective voice in the federal corrections and criminal justice systems and provides registered victims of federal offenders with information on the correctional system and the offender who harmed them.

Victims provide CSC with information that we will consider when making various decisions such as deciding an offender's institutional security level, making recommendations to the National Parole Board (NPB) regarding an offender's conditional release, deciding whether an offender should be released on a temporary absence or work release and when evaluating an offender's program needs and overall risk of re-offending.

To receive information about the offender who harmed them, victims must first register through CSC or the NPB.
