Updated September 5, 2001
NOTICES  CONCERNING  THE  TAFL  FILES

This page lists all previous and current notices issued on modifications made to the TAFL files and any other changes which may impact on users.

Issue Date: 05 September 2001
SUBJECT: REMOVAL OF TAFL DATA FILE "Winnipeg (Regional Office) (do31.zip)"
Effective September 5, 2001, the TAFL data file "Winnipeg (Regional Office) (do31.zip)" has been removed since all frequencies previously listed in this file have been tranferred to other District Offices in the Central Region.
Issue Date: 01 March 2001
SUBJECT: REMOVAL OF THE FIELD "STANDARD INDUSRIAL CLASSIFICATION (SIC)" CODE FROM THE FREQUENCY DATA FILES
Effective March 1st 2001, the Department will remove the STANDARD INDUSTRIAL CODES (SIC) from its radio licensing database. Consequently, the space previously occupied by this field in the TAFL data files has been filled with BLANK characters in order not to shift the position of other fields within the files. The files affected are:
  1. REGIONAL TAFL (all data files) - the 5 character SIC code has been replaced by 5 blank characters.
  2. NATIONAL TAFL (all data files) - the 5 character SIC code has been replaced by 5 blank characters.

Users who load the TAFL data automatically in their databases should not have to modify their data loading programs nor the structure of their databases. However, certain user application programs using this field may require modifications.

The corresponding "File Layout" and "Field Description" for the data files affected by this change have been revised accordingly.

Issue Date: 01 February 2001
SUBJECT: FREQUENCY OF UPDATES OF THE TAFL DATA FILES
Effective February 1st 2001, the frequency data files will be updated once a month, instead of every 3 months. The updated files will normally be posted during the first week of each month.
