The goal of the Border Facilitation Working Group is to build capacity and improve the legitimate flow of people and cargo at ports of entry within North America. There are two main aspects to the work in this area:
- To improve the efficiency of existing border infrastructure and reduce transit times by expanding programs such as NEXUS and FAST.
- To work with the private sector, states, provinces and local governments to construct new border infrastructure to meet long-term demand, including the creation of low-risk ports of entry to expedite the secure movement of cargo across the border.
