The Transportation Working Group

Through its work, the Transportation Working Group aims to improve the safety and efficiency of North America's transportation system and, in so doing, to enhance quality of life. Efforts are geared toward ensuring: (i) the safe and efficient movement of people and goods, (ii) that North American transportation systems support trade and economic expansion, and (iii) that all modes of transportation are optimized to meet these needs. Key work is in such areas as:

  • Air liberalization;
  • Aviation safety;
  • Analyzing border trade and traffic flows;
  • Ensuring safer, faster and more efficient border crossings through new or enhanced mechanisms to support border planning, information sharing and communications; and
  • Enhancing the integration of short-sea shipping into the North American transportation system.
