  • Schlumberger and Alberta Research Council Collaborate on Next Generation Unconventional Gas Research - Schlumberger and the Alberta Research Council Inc. (ARC) have launched a research initiative in unconventional gas resource recovery and technology development. Program targets gas production from immature shales research.
  • Technology from 3M and Alberta Research Council Pipes in Economic Benefits - Pipeline wear is a significant cost to industry – both in unplanned production outages and maintenance costs. The Alberta Research Council (ARC), 3M Canada and Alberta Advanced Education and Technology (AET) are teaming up to develop liners that prevent corrosion and erosion and prolong pipeline life.

  • Edmonton's Link to the Nobel Peace Prize - Alberta Research Council President John McDougall held a bell ringing today to celebrate ARC’s “Nobel Laureate.” Co-chairs from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore, sent letters of recognition to contributors on IPCC’s award winning submission, including ARC’s Dr. Bill Gunter.
  • ARC to Host Bio-Fibres Symposium - The Canadian economy is changing and innovation in bio-fibres is central to the progress of industrial bio-refining and bio-products. As part of a series of bio-fibres foresight meetings, ARC is hosting a two-day symposium November 28th & 29th, 2007. This symposium is focused on bringing together stakeholders in a collaborative forum, featuring expert speakers and interactive workshops.

  • Summer Field Assistant - We require a summer assistant to work on research projects including: oil and surface water sampling, soil moisture monitoring, plant tissue collection and plant identification, tree height and diameter measurements.
  • Welder/Mechanic's Helper - We are seeking a qualified welder who will work with the mechanic to provide repair and maintenance services and to assist in the design, manufacture, modification, repair and maintenance of a variety of scientific equipment.
  • Post Doctoral Fellow: Environmental/Analytical Chemist - Vegreville - Our Environmental Management Business Unit located in Vegreville works with clients to identify problems and provide solutions as they relate to environmental issues and industrial processes. Our Emerging Contaminants Group develops a variety of analytical methods for the detection of novel contaminants in a variety of matrices.
  • Industrial Postdoctoral Researcher - The Biowaste Utilization Centre is seeking a candidate to work as part of a team involving multiple projects of biowaste treatment and utilization. The candidate will work on decontamination of specified risk materials (SRMs) from livestock using anaerobic digestion system (AD), and projects for value-added bioproducts from biowastes.
