Champion Message:

I am proud to announce that Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is once again hosting National Science and Technology Week (NSTW).

NSTW has been held annually in October since 1990. First coordinated by Industry Canada, responsibility for the initiative was transferred to NRCan in 1997. The scale of NSTW has grown over time, and its celebration of science and technology is now supported by many partnerships with other departments’ regional offices, museums and science centres from coast to coast.

This year’s week long celebration will take place October 12 to 21 and include numerous events across Canada.

Young people, in particular, find the week's activities fascinating. And in their enthusiasm for science and technology, we can see hope for a stronger Canada and a better world. Whether you want to be a scientist or just better understand the world around you, National Science and Technology Week has activities for everyone.

Much time and effort is required to make NSTW a success, and it is important to recognize the tremendous contribution of our scientific staff – NSTW could not take place without them.

This event is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to participate in science and technology activities. I invite you to join the celebration and make your connection with science and technology.
