ecoENERGY Technology Initiative
Distributed Electricity Generation From Renewable Energy and Other Clean Energy Sources

Distributed Electricity Generation From Renewable Energy and Other Clean Energy Sources

Objective

To advance the science and technology for electricity generation from renewable energy sources, small combined heat and power systems and other distributed clean-generation technologies, and the integration of these systems into the grid

Targeted ecoENERGY Technology Activities

Planned activities will

  • advance knowledge and technologies to use renewable energy sources such as

    • wind
    • solar
    • ocean (wave and tidal)
    • small combined heat and power systems (based on advanced combustion cycles, waste heat and multi-energy systems)
    • hybrid systems
    • advanced thermal and electricity storage systems

  • increase the integration of these systems into the grid, reduce costs and simplify the process of interconnection

  • demonstrate clean electricity technologies and systems

NOTE:  the planned activities described here will be reviewed and refined during the development of a strategic plan and a detailed implementation plan for this priority area.
