To advance R&D to support

• Canada's participation in the Generation IV International Forum to develop advanced nuclear-based energy systems
  
  
• technology for using these systems for hydrogen production and other non-electricity-based applications of advanced nuclear reactors, e.g. oil sands

Targeted ecoENERGY Technology Activities

Planned activities will

• advance the design and materials/chemistry of the Super-Critical Water-Cooled Reactor and the Very High Temperature Reactor

  • fuels and fuel cycles
  • reactor safety requirements and limits

NOTE:  the planned activities described here will be reviewed and refined during the development of a strategic plan and a detailed implementation plan for this priority area.
