Low-Emission Industrial Systems

Low-Emission Industrial Systems

Objective

To work with industry to improve the energy and emissions performance of the Canadian industrial sector by developing and/or improving processes and technologies that reduce energy intensity and lower criteria air contaminant (CAC) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, while remaining economically competitive.

Targeted ecoENERGY Technology Activities

Planned activities will be to

  • work with industry to identify energy and emissions intensive processes and technologies that can be improved through R&D and innovation

  • advance the development and adoption of cleaner more energy-efficient production processes

  • advance the development and adoption of cleaner and more efficient technologies for the conversion of fuels into energy for industrial processes

For the Low Emissions Industrial Systems portfolio the focus is on the industrial manufacturing sectors:

  • iron and steel
  • mining and smelting
  • cement and lime
  • pulp and paper
  • chemicals
  • petroleum refining
  • other manufacturing
