Valentines for Veterans

On the first weekend, there will be a Valentines for Veterans Drop Box. Volunteers will hand out Valentine cards designed to be sent to Veterans. The public can write an expression of gratitude and drop the card in the box. The Valentines will be collected and distributed to Veterans' facilities across the country. Times for this activity are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on February 3rd, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on February 4th, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on February 5th. Location is the Casino du Lac Leamy Crystal Garden which is actually Confederation Park, just across from the Lord Elgin Hotel.

There is too often a perception that as the number of seniors grows, this group will become a burden to society. This issue of Expression sets the record straight. Older adults not only contribute to the emotional, physical and financial well-being of family and friends, they also form the backbone of Canada's volunteer organizations. As volunteer activity benefits both seniors and their communities, volunteer organizations would be wise to understand the needs and adapt to the expectations of upcoming seniors, who will be available in great numbers for community service. more»
