The Official Languages policy centre provides strategic
orientation and coordination in support of the official languages program
in the regions and divisions.
Under the Official Languages Act, the mandate
of the policy centre covers service to the public, language of work, and
the participation of English-speaking and French-speaking Canadians in
the RCMP.
To carry out its responsibilities for the program, the
policy centre develops and communicates policies and initiatives related
to official languages and provides interpretations and support to managers
and employees as required. Finally, the policy centre monitors the effective
implementation of the official languages program in the regions and divisions;
and prepares the Commissioner's annual report to Treasury Board.
