Real Time Identification (RTID) Project

Real Time Identification (RTID) is a National Police Services (NPS) Project under the stewardship of the RCMP designed to improve the efficiency of Canada’s national fingerprint and criminal record repository. Outdated paper processes and legacy systems will be replaced by modern technology, re-engineered workflows and automation to support interoperability with all users of the NPS Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS) fingerprint and criminal records services.

RTID efficiencies are directly related to reducing the number of paper-based fingerprint submissions and, in turn, increasing the number of electronic fingerprint submissions. Agencies will be supported by CCRTIS during the transition to, and implementation of the new system.
