Library and Information Services

Rapid scientific and technological change has transformed Canadian society. In the library of the Canada Science and Technology Museum, you will find a wealth of material documenting the history and development of science and technology, with special reference to Canada, and the Museum's collection.

The library collection focuses on the Museum's special subject areas: agricultural technology, communications, energy and mining, forestry, graphic arts, land and marine transportation, industrial technology, physical sciences, space and museology.

The collection includes over 19 000 monograph titles, 300 current periodical subscriptions with issues from another 900 titles, and over 75 000 items of trade literature. Some of the monographs, trade literature and periodicals date from the eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and are housed in our rare book room. A large portion of the earliest items in the trade literature collection, as well as some periodical titles, are also available on microfilm or microfiche.

Whether for casual study or specialized research, we invite you to explore this unique educational resource.
