Coffee & Conversation: Transplanted Chinese Cultural Traditions in Canada September 8 2 p.m. (English only) Cascades Salon The culture of China and Chinese-Canadian communities share traditions that express the wisdom and creativity of the Chinese people. Join Dr. Banseng Hoe, Curator East and South-East Asia, as he compares the two and brings these links to light.

Adventure World Closes September 3 The fun continues in our unique outdoor exhibition park! Challenge a friend to a game of chess or checkers, play marbles, hopscotch or spin tops at It’s Your Move. Design and build your own boat, then test it on our pond. Become a pilot and land our plane. Send a radio message at the Coast Guard Station to the captain of the Missinaibi, go fishing off the dock or make a kite at Art-rageous Adventure.
Top Secret: Mission Toy Closes September 3 Kaleidoscope Gallery Time’s nearly up for Top Secret! If you haven’t had a chance to see this terrific exhibition — or see it again — you’ve only got until Monday, September 3 to catch Top Secret: Mission Toy at the Canadian Children’s Museum. You’ll get to don a lab coat and embark on an important mission: use your investigative skills to discover toys from around the world. Top Secret: Mission Toy features hands-on displays, interactive devices, games and other activities.
Let’s Go Korea! September 1 and 2 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (bilingual) Korea’s too far away to visit in just one day, so why not do the next best thing? Join us at the Canadian Children’s Museum for Let’s Go Korea, an imaginary trip to this exotic Asian country. You’ll get to sample delicious rice cakes, then make and play with your own chegi, a traditional Korean shuttlecock similar to a hacky sack. You’ll also have a chance to keep the beat in a drum parade and to master some tae kwon do moves — the martial art is Korea’s national sport.
Franklin Goes to School! September 8 and 9 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. (French) 10:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. (English) It’s back-to-school time — not just for kids, but for certain turtles too! Join Franklin the Turtle and the Ottawa Storytellers at the Canadian Children’s Museum on Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9 as Franklin shares his adventures on his first day of school.
