Canadian War Museum Book Club: Paul Dickson

Ottawa, Ontario, October 10, 2007 — On Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 the Canadian War Museum is pleased to present an evening with author, Paul Dickson of A Thoroughly Canadian General: A Biography of H.D.G. Crerar. General H.D.G. 'Harry' Crerar was involved in or directly responsible for many of the defining moments of Canadian military history in the twentieth century. Despite his pivotal role in shaping the Canadian army, however, General Crerar has been long overlooked as a subject of biography. In A Thoroughly Canadian General, Paul Douglas Dickson examines the man and his controversial place in Canadian military history. Dickson is a strategic analyst and military historian at the Centre for Operational Research and Analysis, Department of National Defence.

The CWM Book Club is an opportunity for participants to spend an intimate and informal evening discussing recent books with their authors. The admission fee includes wine and cheese.

ABOUT THE CANADIAN WAR MUSEUM
The Canadian War Museum is the national museum of military history. It attempts to help all Canadians better understand their country's military history in its personal, national and international dimensions. The Museum emphasizes the human experience of war to explain the impact of organized human conflict on Canada and Canadians, and how, through war, conflict, and peace support operations, Canadians have affected, and have been affected by, the world around them. Special exhibitions and programs also explore non-Canadian and general themes related to the human experience of war and the subject of armed conflict, past and present.
