Discover nomadic living at the Canadian Museum of CivilizationGatineau, Quebec, January 31, 2007 — On February 8, 9, 10 and 11, come to the Canadian Museum of Civilization to meet Aboriginal artists Jeff and Kathleen Coleclough and learn about the traditional skills of the Great Plains nomads. See how leather was prepared and decorated, how tools and arrowheads were made and what types of objects were used in everyday life prior to contact with Europeans. You will also find out how the nomads passed their skills from one generation to the next. These activities are presented in conjunction with the exhibition MASTERS of the Plains, on display until September 3, 2007.
Jeff and Kathleen Coleclough are a husband-and-wife team of Ojibway descent. They are the founders of Kakwa, a Métis initiative based in Saskatchewan that provides educational programs to museums, historic sites, schools, and school boards.
