Uganda - general

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) will take place in Kampala, Uganda, on 23-25 November, 2007. During this period, heightened security measures will be in place. Transportation services may be affected. Canadians should review and confirm their travel plans in advance.

Canadians should avoid crowds and demonstrations and maintain a high level of personal security awareness at all times. They are also advised to monitor local news reports and follow the advice of local authorities.

Consular services, including emergency assistance, are available from the Consulate of Canada in Kampala, Uganda and the High Commission of Canada in Nairobi, Kenya. Canadians may also contact the Emergency Operations Centre (call collect) at 1-613-996-8885 for assistance.
