The Lateral Entry Program allows entry of graduates from provincially recognized applied police training institutions, and of members of other Canadian police agencies into the RCMP as non-commissioned members. Lateral entry applies to two categories of candidates:
Non-public police agency experience alone, e.g. military police, Canadian National railway police, is not acceptable for this program. Pre-selection A lateral entry applicant will not compete with Cadet Training Program regular member applicants. When applying, you must forward to your local recruiting office a copy of the following documents:
A category 2 applicant will be required to successfully pass an oral board. A written test will be administered online by the RCMP Training Academy. Please note: Prior service with another police service is not recognized for calculating benefits. Pension is not transferable to the RCMP. For more information, contact your local recruiting office.
