Media Availability: RCMP member killed in the line of duty

The RCMP advises that an RCMP member was killed in the line of duty during the late hours of November 5, 2007. The member's name cannot be released as all of the next of kin needs to be notified.

The incident took place in Kimmirut, Nunavut, a small community formerly known as Lake Harbour on Baffin Island. The investigation is ongoing and further details will be provided at a media availability held at 11 a.m. this morning.

Where: RCMP HQ, 1200 Vanier Parkway by the Macleod statute outside the main entrance of the Nicholson building
