Canada Graduate Scholarships Program - Doctoral Scholarships

The Canada Graduate Scholarships Program - Doctoral Scholarships provides scholarships to doctoral students who have achieved academic excellence in their undergraduate and graduate studies in the field of social sciences and humanities.

Eligibility Information

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • be Canadian citizens or permanent residents
  • be registered in, or applying to, a full-time doctoral program offered at a recognized Canadian university
  • be pursuing their first doctoral degree
  • not have already received financial aid for doctoral studies from SSHRC, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, or the Canadian Institutes of Health Research
  • not be under SSHRC sanction resulting from financial or research misconduct
  • not be applying for funding from the National Science and Engineering Research Council or the Canadian Institutes of Health Research
  • other criteria may apply

  • Candidates who are currently registered at a university must apply through their university.
  • All other candidates must apply directly to SSHRC.

  • For all other candidates, the application deadline is determined by the Program.
