Canadian Farm Families Options Program

The Canadian Farm Families Options Program (Options) provides short-term income assistance to farmers and their families while they pursue training and advice to improve their business prospects and income for the long term.

Eligibility Information

Participants must have completed or be in the process of undertaking one of the following Renewal activities:

Farmers must also meet the following criteria:

  • be actively farming in 2007
  • have received a 2005 Options payment
  • have reported $50,000 or more in gross farming income in the program year to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) (not including the 2005 Options payment if it was reported as farming income)
  • be a farm family who reported less than $25,000 or an individual farmer who reported less than $15,000 from all income sources in 2006 to CRA (not including the 2005 Options payment)

Application Information

  • 2006 Options forms and guides will be mailed to those who have received a 2005 payment and to those who applied but did not receive a cheque because the payment was less than $100.
  • Forms and guides will be available in August.

Dates and Deadlines

  • The deadline for submitting applications is November 30, 2007.
