Cover Crop Protection Program (CCPP)
What producers need to know about the Cover Crop Protection Program (CCPP)
Production Insurance Requirement
The CCPP is a national initiative that provides financial assistance to Canadian producers enrolled in production insurance who are unable to seed commercial crops due to spring flooding or excessive field moisture.
The CCPP may provide a one-time payment of $15 per acre for eligible claims of 10 acres or more.
Objectives of the CCPP are to:
- Improve the capacity of affected producers to meet increased costs associated with land restoration and improvement due to flooding;
- Improve short-term cash flow concerns for insured producers;
- Recognize the hardships faced by producers due to flooding; and
- Help reduce further soil erosion by enabling insured producers to re-seed affected lands, bringing them back into production.
