Emergency Repair Program
The Emergency Repair Program provides funding to low-income homeowners and tenants in rural areas so that they can make emergency repairs to their homes in order to make them fit for habitation.
Delivered by: Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)
Eligibility Information
Emergency repairs must be related to one of the following:
- the chimney
- the doors and windows
- the electrical system
- the foundation
- the heating and ventilation systems
- the plumbing
- the roof, walls, floors and ceilings
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- have an income at or below an established limit
- housing must be their primary place of residence
- other criteria may apply

- The CMHC delivers the Program in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and the Yukon.
- In Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Quebec and Saskatchewan, the provincial and territorial governments deliver similar programs.
