How to Use This Site

Life Sciences e-Technology Transfer (LSeTT) is a dynamic website powered by a search engine that reaches over 12,000 licensing opportunities from major research institutions (universities, hospitals, and government laboratories) from every corner of the globe. By accessing the Complete Licensing Search section of the site, you will have the ability to enter any combination of words into one search field. Results will be retrieved from all of the sources in the LSeTT database.

You also have the unique opportunity to access millions of patent records from Canada, the United States of America, Australia, the European Union, China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and 18 Latin American countries including Mexico and Cuba. By entering the section entitled, A World of Opportunity, you can enter your choice of words into the search field(s) provided in order to search the Intellectual Property Offices of these countries.
Directions for Using the Complete Licensing Search: Step #1: Type one or more descriptive words into the Search Field. Be specific in order to find the most relevant matches. LSeTT is not case sensitive. Step #2: If desired, narrow your search to entries that reference Canada by clicking “Sites from Canada Only.” Step #3: Check “Find exact word matches only” if you would like LSeTT to provide results that contain the exact words entered in the search field. Alternatively, you may check “Find word variations” and LSeTT will search for all variations of the word that you entered in the search field. For example, if you enter “gene therapy” in the search field and check “Find word variations,” LSeTT will also search for “gene therapies.” Step #4: The LSeTT search is defaulted to provide users with licensing opportunities listed by relevance. Relevance is determined by the relative frequency of the search terms appearing in a particular result set. Results can also be displayed alphabetically by selecting “Sort search results by: Alphabetical Order.” Step #5: The LSeTT search is defaulted to find licensing opportunities that contain all of the words in your query. You can also search by “Phrase” or “Any of the above words” by selecting the appropriate entry. EXAMPLE: ü “Stem cell research” will search all results that contain Stem AND cell AND research if “All of the above words” is selected. ü It will search “Stem cell research” as an exact phrase if “Phrase” is selected. ü It will search for Stem OR cell OR research if “Any of the above words” is selected. Step #6: Users have the ability to limit their results by selecting a maximum number of pages to be displayed. The LSeTT search is defaulted to display 100 licensing opportunities. Step #7: Click “Find Opportunities” and LSeTT will find licensing opportunities that meet your search criteria.
