Former pitcher Rick Rhoden tied for lead in Champions Q-school

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) Former major league pitcher Rick Rhoden double-bogeyed the final hole to drop into a three-way tie for the lead Thursday after the third round of the Champions Tour's National Qualifying Tournament.

Rhoden, the winner of 50 celebrity golf titles, shot an even-par 72 to match Jack Ferenz (69) and Scott Masingill (70) at 6-under 210 on the TPC Eagle Trace.

After the fourth round Friday, the low 30 players and ties will earn spots into open qualifiers at all co-sponsored events on the 2008 Champions Tour.

Thomas E. Jones (69) and Mike Goodes (69) were 5 under, and Rick Karbowski (71) and Mark Balen (72) were another stroke back.
