Comments: Martin left the game with a lower-body injury as the host Devils suffered a 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Wendesday night at the Prudential Center. The Newark-Star Ledger has reported Martin experienced a back injury. The defenseman logged 7 minutes, 39 seconds of ice time in the loss. The Devils hope Martin can return when they host the New York Islanders on Friday as goaltender Martin Brodeur seeks his 500th career win. (Expected Return Date: 11/24/2007)
Maxim Kondratiev, D, Anh Suspended (Indefinitely by team, did not report) Nov. 13
Comments: The Ducks have suspended Kondratiev indefinitely after the defenseman didn't report for his AHL assignment to their Portland affiliate. The 24-year-old defenseman, who remains the Ducks' property, has returned to Russia. He intends to play for St. Petersburg of the Russian Superleague. Kondratiev is pointless in four games, making his debut on Oct. 6. (Expected Return Date: 2/1/2008)
Nick Boynton, D, Pho Suspended (One game by NHL for 11/12 instigator) Nov. 13
Comments: Boynton will serve a one-game suspension on Thursday, missing the Coyotes' home game against the San Jose Sharks. The suspension came after Boynton received an instigator penalty for inciting a fight with Sharks forward Steve Bernier with less than five minutes left in Phoenix's 5-0 loss on Monday at San Jose. Boyton has two assists in 15 games this season, going pointless in each of his last four appearances. (Expected Return Date: 11/17/2007)
Ian Laperriere, RW, Col Day-to-Day (Sprained right knee) Nov. 12
Comments: Laperriere suffered an unspecified injury in the second period and did not return to the Avalanche's 4-2 home win over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. Laperriere logged 6 minutes, 5 seconds of ice time. The Avalanche said he would be out for 2-to-4 weeks. Bill Guerin, RW, NYI Day-to-Day (Facial laceration) Nov. 11
Comments: Guerin did not play in the Islanders' 3-2 loss on Monday at Philadelphia because of a laceration on his face. Guerin was hit in the eye and forehead by a pick on Saturday, when the Islanders beat the New Jersey Devils, 2-1, on Saturday at Nassau Coliseum. Pavel Kubina, D, Tor Injured Reserve (Right MCL) Nov. 11
Comments: Kubina is out of the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup indefinitely because of a ligament injury to his right knee. He injured his medial collateral ligament during Toronto's 3-2 loss to the New York Ranger on Saturday night, when he was slammed into the boards by Blair Betts. Kubina, a 30-year-old in his second season with the Maple Leafs, has one goal and 10 assists in 18 games. Maple Leafs general manager John Ferguson Jr. said " surgery has not been indicated." Niklas Backstrom, G, Min Day-to-Day (Groin) Nov. 11
Comments: Backstrom remains day-to-day with a groin injury, but he played on Sunday. Backstrom allowed three goals on 25 shots as the visiting Wild suffered a 4-2 loss at Colorado. Backstrom suffered a third straight road loss to fall to 7-2-1 with a 1.99 goals-against average and .922 save percentage in 10 games this season. The Wild promoted Nolan Schaefer from the AHL's Houston Aeros before Sunday's game to add to their goaltender depth. (Expected Return Date: 11/15/2007)
Stephane Veilleux, LW, Min Day-to-Day (Fractured left cheekbone) Nov. 11
Comments: Veilleux was scratched before the Wild's game on Sunday, when they suffered a 4-2 loss on Sunday at Colorado. Veilleux suffered a fractured left cheekbone after he was hit by a puck in practice on Saturday. Veilleux is considered day-to-day. The left wing has two goals and an assist in 15 games this season. Kevyn Adams, C, Chi Injured Reserve (Torn left ACL) Nov. 8
Comments: Adams said he will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee. Adams sat out for the Blackhawks' 4-2 home win over the St. Louis Blues on Friday because of the injury that he suffered on Wednesday. Adams had logged 2 minutes, 12 seconds of ice time before suffering the injury in the first period of the 5-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. (Expected Return Date: 3/1/2008)
Simon Gagne, LW, Phi Day-to-Day (Dizziness) Nov. 8
Comments: Gagne was scratched from Thursday's 4-1 win over the visiting New Jersey Devils after complaining of dizziness stemming from a collision with Pittsburgh's Gary Roberts on Wednesday. (Expected Return Date: 11/10/2007)
Sami Kapanen, RW, Phi Injured Reserve (Knee sprain) Nov. 8
Comments: The Flyers have placed Kapanen on the injured reserve because of a knee sprain. Kapanen won't play when the Flyers host the New York Rangers on Thursday. He has skated alone throughout the week, but is not ready to return, The Philadelphia Daily News reported. The right wing last appeared in a game in the Flyers' 3-1 loss on Nov. 7 at Pittsburgh. Jeff Cowan, LW, Van Day-to-Day (Hip flexor) Nov. 8
Comments: Cowan remains day-to-day because of a hip flexor injury. The left wing has not played since Oct. 13, and the Canucks are 5-6-0 in his absence. Cowan missed Vancouver's 2-1 overtime win over visiting Colorado on Friday. He has an assist in four games this season. Cowan went on the injured reserve on Oct. 15. (Expected Return Date: 11/8/2007)
Bryan Allen, D, Fla Day-to-Day (Concussion) Nov. 7
Comments: Allen has been out of the lineup with facial injuries, but Panthers general manager and coach Jacques Martin said the defenseman also has a concussion, reported the Miami Herald. Allen suffered the injury after getting into a fight with Tampa Bay's Nick Tarnasky in Monday's win over the Lightning. The punch opened up stitches that Allen had required earlier in the game. Shawn Thornton, LW, Bos Injured Reserve (Broken bone in left foot) Nov. 7
Comments: The Bruins placed Thornton on the injured reserve list Friday due to a broken bone in his left foot.The forward is expected to miss four to six weeks. Thornton has played in 13 games this season after joining Boston as an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. In 2006-07, he had two goals in 48 games for the Anaheim Ducks and four goals in 15 games for Portland in the AHL. (Expected Return Date: 11/24/2007)
Tim Connolly, C, Buf Day-to-Day (Strained abdomen) Nov. 6
Comments: Connolly missed a second straight game because of a strained abdomen injury that Connolly suffered in a 2-0 loss on Monday at Montreal. Connolly remained in a tie with Brian Campbell for the team lead in points at 12. Connolly hasa goal and 11 assists in 13 games, but has not scored in his last 10 appearances. It seems unlikely Connolly will play when the Sabres visit the Boston Bruins on Saturday night. (Expected Return Date: 11/13/2007)
Adam Mair, C, Buf Day-to-Day (Sprained right ankle) Nov. 6
Comments: Mair missed a second straight game after spraining his right ankle in a 2-0 loss on Monday at Montreal. The Sabres lost, 3-0, to Toronto on Friday night. Mair is not expected to play when the Sabres visit Boston on Saturday night. His absence is expected to last weeks, Sabres coach Lindy Ruff has said. The center has two goals and an assist in 13 appearances this season, but he has been shut out in each of his last eight appearances. (Expected Return Date: 11/20/2007)
Aaron Johnson, D, NYI Day-to-Day (Sprained knee) Nov. 6
Comments: Johnson injured a knee in a collision during the Islanders' practice on Monday and will be sidelined about six weeks. "You never want to see that with a guy as dedicated as Aaron Johnson," coach Ted Nolan said. "The good news is, when it happened it looked like the injury could have even been worse. I'm glad to hear we'll get A.J. back." Johnson, who has been used often this season at forward, has not registered a point in five games. (Expected Return Date: 12/17/2007)
Nolan Pratt, D, Buf Day-to-Day (Strained groin) Nov. 5
Comments: Pratt was signed by Buffalo last Thursday, but hurt his groin in his Sabres' debut, missing two games as a result of that, according to the Buffalo News. The defenseman said he is trying to be careful now so he doesn't aggravate the injury and set himself back even further. Pratt, a 10-year veteran, spent the past five years with Tampa Bay, and was part of the Lightning's Stanley Cup-winning team in 2004 (Expected Return Date: 11/12/2007)
Marian Gaborik, RW, Min Day-to-Day (Groin) Nov. 5
Comments: Gaborik missed a econd straight game because of a lingering groin strain as the visiting Wild lost, 4-2, on Sunday at Colorado. Gaborik's absence began when he sat out for a 5-2 home win over the Edmonton Oilers after going on the injured reserve. Gaborik has three goals and two assists in his last two games, giving him four goals and nine assists in 12 outings this season. (Expected Return Date: 11/30/2007)
David Backes, RW, StL Injured Reserve (Left MCL) Nov. 4
Comments: Backes is expected to miss the next four weeks because of a ligament injury in his left knee. Backes missed a second straight game -- a 4-2 Blues' loss on Friday night at Chicago -- since he suffered the injury last Saturday against the Blackhawks. St. Louis has lost three straight games. Backes went pointless in his last three games, keeping his 12-game season totals at two goals and two assists. (Expected Return Date: 12/3/2007)
Andrew Ference, D, Bos Day-to-Day (Upper core) Nov. 4
Comments: Ference is day-to-day with an upper core injury that forced him to sit out for the Bruins' 2-1 home shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators on Sunday. The Bruins hope Ference can return when they visit the Sabres on Wednesday. The defenseman has three assists in 12 games this season, going pointless in his last three appearances. He has 22 goals and 83 assists for 105 points in his 425-game career. (Expected Return Date: 11/9/2007)
Raitis Ivanans, LW, LA Injured Reserve (Broken cheekbone) Nov. 4
Comments: The Kings have put left wing Ivanans on the injured reserve because of a broken cheekbone. Ivanans had suffered the injury during the first period of the Kings' 5-2 road win on Nov. 2 at San Jose. Los Angeles has played only one game since, losing 3-1 to the Sharks the next day to split the home-and-home set. Ivanans has a goal and assist in 13 games this season. Pavol Demitra, LW, Min Injured Reserve (Strained groin) Nov. 4
Comments: The Wild placed Demitra on injured reserve with a strained groin before Monday's 5-2 victory over Edmonton. The left wing missed the third period of the Wild's win over Calgary on Saturday, and with Monday's absence, he has been sidelined for five of Minnesota's 15 games this season as a result of this injury. Demitra has four goals and six assists in 10 games for the Wild. (Expected Return Date: 11/12/2007)
Dan Boyle, D, TB Injured Reserve (Left wrist surgery) Nov. 4
Comments: Lightning executive vice president and general manager Jay Feaster said that the MRI on Boyle's surgically repaired left wrist showed that two of the three tendons, severed in the preseason, have not properly healed. According to a release on the team's official Web site, additional surgery will also be required, and as a result, the Lightning placed Boyle on the injured reserve, retroactive to his last game on Nov. 3. He will be out of the lineup indefinitely. (Expected Return Date: 1/4/2008)
