  2. Is it secure?

  3. How do we prevent fraud?

A number of safeguards are in place to prevent fraud. For example, if you use the Internet Reporting Service, we will ask you to provide us with your Social Insurance Number (SIN), Access code and Province of your residence. This information is then verified against the data present in your claim on our main computer. To prevent fraud and for your own protection keep your Access Code safe and store it separately from your SIN. Do not let others have it because they could get information or take action on your claim without your knowledge and you would be held responsible.

  4. What are the minimal systems requirements for the Internet Reporting Service?

At present, we support the operating systems and browsers listed below. However, we are continually striving to make our services accessible to all Canadians, so we are currently reviewing other platforms/browsers.

    • PC — Windows 98 or higher
    • Internet Explorer 6.0 and up with 128 bit encryption
    • Netscape 6.1 and up with 128 bit encryption
    • Mac — OS X
    • Safari 1,2 and up with 128 bit encryption

Note: even if compatibility of your computer is verified automatically by our system, MacIntosh owner using certain browser may experience problems during their session and not be able to complete their report. In this situation starting over the report could be a solution.
