APPOINTMENTS TO PARC DOWNSVIEW PARK INC.

OTTAWA — The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointments of Mr. Geoff Cape and Ms. Kristin Matthews to the board of directors of Parc Downsview Park Inc., each for a term of four years.

"I am very pleased that Mr. Cape and Ms. Matthews have agreed to serve on the board of Parc Downsview Park," said Minister Cannon. "Their combined experience in litigation, business administration and management will serve the board well."

Mr. Geoff Cape holds a bachelor of arts from Queen's University and a master's of management from McGill University. He is the founding executive director of Evergreen, a national charity that explores the relationship between nature, culture and community in urban spaces. Mr. Cape was recently recognized for his green design leadership with a NAIOP REX Award. He is also a past winner of Canada's "Top 40 Under 40" Award. Last year, he was a selected delegate of the Toronto's Creative Cities International Study Group and inducted into the Ashoka International Fellowship in Washington. Mr. Cape is the founding chair of the Sustainability Network, a member of the Lake Ontario Park Steering Committee and a regular speaker on urban issues.

Ms. Kristin Matthews holds a post-graduate diploma in investigative and forensic accounting from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management and a bachelor's degree in sociology with a focus on criminology, from Queen's University. As a manager in the Claims Valuation and Litigation Support group of Soberman LLP, Ms. Matthews is a senior professional on a team which specializes in loss quantification for insurance and litigation claims. Prior to joining Soberman LLP, Ms. Matthews was a senior associate at a top-four international public accounting firm in the practice area of dispute analysis and investigations. She is also a frequent speaker on topics relating to her work in forensic accounting.

Downsview Park, in Toronto, Ontario, is a unique urban park and recreational green space created from the remaining lands of the former Canadian Forces Base Toronto. The 572-acre site is now owned and operated by Parc Downsview Park Inc., an agent Crown corporation, which is mandated to manage and develop part of the Downsview lands on a self-financing basis as a unique urban recreational green space to be held in perpetuity for the enjoyment of future generations. The site consists of 362 acres of green space for public enjoyment while the remaining area is to be developed commercially to support the operation of the park.
